Dengue Fever: Symptoms, Causes, and Treatments

In the 1775s when a disease spread in Asia, Africa and North America in which the patient had a sudden high fever and at the same time headaches and joint pains began, while some patients also had abdominal pain, bloody vomiting and bloody patches. Complained. The patient suffered from the same disease for seven to ten days and eventually died. Panic spread among the people and people started migrating from these areas. When the doctors and physicians of that time did research on it, they found out that it is a special type of mosquito which causes the disease by its bite. Dengue fever kills white blood cells. High fever, nausea and vomiting, back and muscle aches and severe headache are the main symptoms of dengue fever.
How is dengue spread?
The mosquito that spreads dengue in Pakistan and all over the world is Aedes aegypti. This spotted-skinned mosquito is present in Pakistan from September to December after the monsoon rains.
According to experts, this mosquito grows in a temperature of 10 to 40 degrees Celsius and dies in a temperature of more or less.
Dengue is caused by mosquito bites. Males need protein to lay eggs, and they suck human blood to obtain this protein, which spreads dengue infection.
Aedes aegypti mosquito eggs and larvae are reared in clean and still water for which a suitable environment is available inside the common house.

Dr Sher Shah Syed, former general secretary of the Pakistan Medical Association, says the difference between malaria and dengue is that the disease is fatal, while there is no specific treatment other than precautionary measures.
According to medical experts, the most important thing to prevent dengue is not to allow water to accumulate anywhere. According to experts, people usually pay attention only to dirty water, but clean water can also cause the spread of the disease.
Dr. Sher Shah Syed says that mosquito nets and sprays should be used because once the disease occurs, it can take two to three weeks for the virus to be eradicated from the body.
He said that after the rains, if water accumulates around the houses or in lawns, courtyards etc., it is possible to prevent dengue by removing it immediately and spraying it there.
Dr. Sher Shah Syed said that the disease can be eradicated if the environment for mosquito breeding is eliminated by maintaining cleanliness and developed countries have overcome the disease in the same way.

How is dengue confirmed?

According to Dr. Nada Abrar, dengue fever is confirmed (tested) by blood tests called NS One or PCR.
He said that government hospitals usually do NS-1 test while PCR test is not usually done due to its high cost.

Symptoms of dengue fever:

According to Dr. Nada, the symptoms of this disease include high fever and pain in the body, especially in the back and legs, and severe headaches. In addition, the patient suffers from nausea and vomiting, red marks on the body and bleeding from the gums or nose.During a fever, a dengue patient may become drowsy and may have difficulty breathing. The dengue virus also affects blood flow and heart rate and can also affect blood pressure and heart rate.

Dengue’s Cure through bacteria:

Wolbachia bacteria make it difficult for the dengue virus to thrive inside mosquitoes.
Bacteria are believed to nest inside mosquitoes in areas where the dengue virus has to live, and bacteria use the resources the virus needs.
If the dengue virus does not replicate itself and increase its numbers in mosquitoes, the chances of the disease spreading through mosquito bites are very low.
Many species of insects are naturally affected by bacteria, including the tiny fruit bees that fly in your kitchen. But the Aedes aegypti mosquito that spreads dengue is not usually affected
